The SCRS application is hosted by Heroku, a Salesforce cloud-based website hosting company. Your data is protected by Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption. SSL encryption is a security technology that ensures data is encrypted while it’s being transferred over the internet. This technology has been used for years to protect sensitive information, such as online banking transactions and credit card numbers, when it’s being sent between your computer and an online retailer.
The SSL encryption process involves two keys- one public key that encrypts the data, and one private key that decrypts the data. The public key can be shared with anyone without compromising the security of the data, but the private key needs to be kept secret in order to decrypt messages. The public key is usually stored on a server in what is known as a “certificate” or “public certificate” file. The private key is stored on your computer or device. The SSL certificate that the SCRS website uses is provided by Heroku via Automated Certificate Management

The Self-Centric Relational System (SCRS) is a tool designed to illuminate key aspects of an individual's relational network. It creates a graphic representation of a client’s relational world from their point of view and is displayed in one graph that is accessible and easy to read for the client and their therapist, medical clinician or life coach. The SCRS assessment produces a relational graph, interpretation and self-analysis guide, report, and recommendations for enhancing a client's relational world. The first administration of the SCRS can be used to assess the health of a client’s relational world and set goals for improvement. Subsequent administrations of the SCRS are used to plot progress and set new goals.
Mental health professionals, medical clinicians, and life coaches use the SCRS to explore the health of their client’s relational networks and assist them to make desired changes and improve their quality of life.
Mental health professionals, medical clinicians, and life coaches must hold current licensing/certification to subscribe to use the SCRS. They must attest to their education and licensing/certification as a step in the process of subscribing before being allowed to move forward with payment for the service.
Any client seeking change with the assistance of a therapist, medical clinician, or life coach can benefit from viewing their relational world through the lens of the SCRS. As a therapist, other mental health professional, medical clinician, or life coach you know that your client’s relational network is one of their most valuable resources. Social interaction is essential to every aspect of human health. The quantity and quality of social relationships positively impact mental health, physical health, and mortality risk.
The author of the SCRS, Denver Johnson, Ph.D., is currently running a validity study at Bellin Health Psychiatric Hospital in Green Bay, WI. Dr. Naciye Kalafat, MD is the co-principal investigator. The study is gathering normative data for hospitalized psychiatric patients and hopes to establish validity for the SCRS in several areas including depression, loneliness, perceived social support, quality of life, and use of substances. The study represents initial research to establish the SCRS as a relational network assessment tool that can be used in individual psychotherapy to assist in defining the structure and health of that network as well as serving as a personal relational network baseline in which to measure therapeutic progress. For more information, contact Dr. Johnson through the SCRS website Contact page.
You can access the SCRS Users Guide from the menu at the top of the page.
